Kylie Minogue meets sick children

Pop star Kylie Minogue thrilled sick children in Scotland by holding a special meeting with them before her performance in Glasgow.

Minogue is currently performing on the British leg of her Aphrodite Les Folies tour. The singer says she was happy to meet the kids after she was contacted by local charity fundraiser Les Hoey to arrange a meeting with them.

She spent quality time as she chatted and posed for pictures with the kids backstage at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, reports contactmusic.co.uk.

"It's amazing what meetings like these can do for the kids. I can't thank Kylie enough,"Hoey told Scotland's Daily Record.

Kylie Minogue spends GBP 10m on designer costumes for latest tour

Pop singer Kylie Minogue has apparently forked out almost 10 million pounds on designer costumes for her latest tour.

The singer, who kicked off the UK leg of her Aphrodite world tour in Cardiff last night, was dressed by Dolce and Gabbana.

She wore gold costumes encrusted with Swarovski crystals and real pearls, a chiffon gown so sheer it "looks like smoke" and a chain-mail Barbarella-inspired dress covered in priceless vintage brooches.

All her backing dancers and singers have also been decked out by the Italian designers.

"Kylie's petite but perfectly proportioned and looks stunning in whatever she wears," the Daily Express quoted a D and G spokeswoman as saying.

Kylie Minogue bringing her most lavish stage production yet to Australia

Kylie Minogue is all set to bring her most lavish stage production yet to Australia.

The Aphrodite Les Folies tour starts in Brisbane at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on June 3, her first local show in five years.

The 25-million-dollar production features a cast of 25 including 10 dancers and eight aerial acrobats and 30 water jets and fountains.

Michael Gudinski has been promoting Minogue tours for more than 20 years but says her fans have never seen anything on this scale.

"I''ve just seen the show in Europe and it''s phenomenal," the Courier Mail quoted Gudinski as saying.

"She . . . is bringing every screw and bolt of this show to Australia,” Gudinski added.

Unlike previous tours, the breast cancer survivor plays the two-hour concert without an interval. Top ticket price for the concert is 400 dollars to enter a "splash zone" within the stage itself. Other tickets are 150 dollars, 130 dollars and 100 dollars.

Secret to Kylie's sexy looks - great underwear!

Pop diva Kylie Minogue has credited the secret of her sexiness to good underwear and an all-over body make up.

“I know a lot of tricks to make everything look good, basically very good underwear and all-over body make-up. That's my secret", she told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview.

The 42-year-old also complained that her bottom often gets more attention than she does, but said she has no plans to stop wearing hot pants.

“My face has been outshone by my bottom. After the ‘Spinning Around’ video, people became a lot more interested in my behind than they were in me. It makes me laugh, and every time I pull on a pair of hot pants I think to myself, ‘This is the last time’, but it never is. I haven't quite put an end date on hot pants yet," said Minogue.

She said being thought of as sexy made her happy.

“I’ve never had a problem with being a sex symbol. I’m a woman and it’s a lovely compliment. It’s a nice feeling that people like how you look. I’ve always been very comfortable with it,” she said. Minogue said she still couldn’t believe she is 42 now.

“Part of me feels like I’m still 21 and I always will be. A lot of people thought I would have a problem when it came to turning 40, but I didn’t – I totally embraced my forties,” she said.

“When I’m in the retirement home, I’ll still be getting out my old costumes and feathers and putting on a show. It’s what I’ve been doing my entire life and it’s a total blast,” she added.

And there is another side to Minogue that most people have not seen.

“I can be a total nerd. I love to pull on casual clothes and play golf, and when I’m with my nephews I turn into this woman who rolls around on the floor, changing nappies and getting covered in poop,” she said.

Dannii: 'I was Kylie's fat, ugly sister'

Dannii Minogue has admitted that she is enjoying not being in her sister Kylie's shadow.

The X Factor judge told Marie Claire that she struggled to achieve success in the UK because of her sister's popularity.

"When I first came over, it was hard because it was Kyliemania," she confessed. "She was this cute little thing and I was the fat, ugly sister.

"Can you imagine for years being asked what it’s like to be Kylie's sister?"

She added: "I guess it's my turn now to enjoy what is going right."

Dannii Minogue 'ignored Kylie comparisons'

Dannii Minogue has said that the success of her sister Kylie's career never made her "jealous".

According to the Daily Mail, the X Factor judge and popstar reveals in her autobiography My Story that press comparisons between the two siblings did not affect the pair's relationship or the "love and support" that they gave each other.

Minogue wrote: "Ever since I arrived in the UK in 1991, the media have pitted us against one another, first favouring my supposed 'cooler, darker' image over Kylie's bubblegum sweetness, then turning on me with a deluge of unflattering comparisons.

"Never mind that Dannii has had ten Top 10 records - Kylie has had 20! Never mind that Dannii's album has gone gold - Kylie's has gone platinum! Less success was no success at all as far as my critics were concerned. As much as it broke my heart at times, it never made me any less proud and supportive of my sister, and I received the same love and support from her."

The 38-year-old also said that she never compared her own career to Kylie's, adding: "The truth is I never felt as if I was competing with my sister. Although I got very tired of the constant comparisons, it wasn't because I was jealous. I think all the Dannii-bashing headlines often hurt Kylie more than they hurt me."

My Story is published on September 30.
