Yana Gupta to perform Zeenat Aman track

Yana Gupta will be seen in a song sequence originally performed by Zeenat Aman.

The Czech-born model will perform to 'Laila O Laila' in Chalo Dilli.

Producer Krishika Lulla said: "We all are very excited about the song 'Laila O Laila' which is a desi rendition of the original. We've received great feedback for it and hopefully audiences should love it just as much"

Gupta was recently reported to be appearing in the sequel to the controversial Bollywood hit Murder.

Lara Dutta, the lead actress in the film, reportedly wanted to pay homage to Aman in the song.

A source revealed: "Lara and Zeenat have both been Miss India. Lara has always idolised Zeenat Aman and wanted to in some way represent her in her first home production.

"That's when she decided to base an item song on the cult hit 'Laila O Laila'."

Chalo Dilli, directed by Dasvidaniya filmmaker Shashant Shah, releases April 29.

Zeenat Aman supports the new 'Laila O laila'

Zeenat Aman might not be happy with the new version of her cult song "Dum maaro dum", but the veteran actress is quite satisfied with the neo-age version of "Laila o laila" and is going all out to lend her support to it.

The famous song from the 1980 film "Qurbani" has been re-arranged for the film "Chalo Dilli", which is actress Lara Dutta's first home production.

"I liked the song when I heard it. They have retained the original version and at the same time have given the song a new flavour. It's got a rustic, ethnic feel and I liked it a lot. So I'm supporting it," Zeenat told IANS.

The new version has been picturised on Yana Gupta and the 31-year-old is extremely happy to be a part of such a cult song.

Yana said: "I was extremely excited to do this song because it's fantastic. I'm just honoured to do Zeenatji's song. I think people will like it.

Yana said she was very happy that Zeenat gave her support for the song. "It's a big deal for me," she said.

"I saw the video of the original song a couple of times and saw the style that Zeenat ji used in the song. But I didn't copy her as I thought of doing it my own way because the song is very different," she added.

Preity Zinta & Zeenat Aman to celebrate woman power in Dubai

Reel-life heroines Preity Zinta and Zeenat Aman will rub shoulders with real-life achievers, including Dubai-based entrepreneur Sarah Belhasa and fashion designer Aiisha Ramadan, to celebrate woman power and to promote breast-cancer awareness at the Gr8 Women Awards Night.

To be held at the Madinat Jumeirah Arena on April 15, the evening will honour women in the Middle East, especially UAE.

"It''s great that Anu and Shashi [Ranjan, organisers] have chosen Dubai in the Middle East. There are so many women out here who have achieved a lot but are shy and quiet about it. Now is the time to celebrate their achievements," Gulf News quoted actress Mahima Chaudhry (pictured) as saying in a press conference on Monday. The Pardes star also urged women to go for periodic check-ups for breast cancer.

"Cancer is something if you spot in the first few stages, it can be cured, " said Chaudhry.

Though the awards night — replete with a Bollywood dance and song spectacle from an array of actors including Viviek Oberoi, Jacqueline Fernandez and Raveena Tandon — will emphasise breast-cancer awareness, the proceeds are not going towards that cause.

"This is our first baby step towards going global. As of now, we are spreading awareness but soon we will be able to raise funds through this. But not yet," said Shashi Ranjan.

Legendary actress Aman is equally thrilled. "I feel truly honoured to receive this award because it''s a recognition of my achievements as an actor and a woman," she said from Mumbai.
