Lindsay Lohan ends home detention after 35 days

LOS ANGELES: Actress Lindsay Lohan was released from home detention on Wednesday after spending 35 days at her Los Angeles apartment for stealing a gold necklace, authorities said.

A private company that handles monitoring equipment for home detention inmates removed the electronic ankle bracelet from the "Mean Girls" star on Wednesday morning, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.

Lohan was sentenced in May to 120 days in jail, but the 24 year-old actress qualified for a shorter period of house arrest under programs for nonviolent offenders and to reduce overcrowding in Los Angeles jails.

Lohan, a former child star, pleaded no contest in May to the theft of a $2,500 gold necklace from a Los Angeles boutique. She had walked out of the store wearing the jewelry.

Her once promising Hollywood career has been derailed because of repeated run-ins with the law and trips to rehabilitation to deal with drug and alcohol problems.

Nevertheless, she is due to start filming a movie about New York crime boss John Gotti later this year with co-stars John Travolta and Al Pacino.

Lindsay Lohan under house arrest

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, who showed up three weeks early at Los Angeles' Lynwood Jail, is now under house arrest.

Contactmusic.com reports that she was immediately determined eligible to serve her time at home, so she was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet Thursday and released.

She is now at her home in Venice, California, but cannot leave until June 29.

"She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times," said Steve Whitmore, the Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman.

The actress was last month ordered to to undertake three years probation, serve 120 days in jail and complete 480 hours of community service for jewelry theft and breaching the terms of her 2007 probation.

Home detention aims to reduce the prison population by allowing non-violent offenders to serve out their sentences in home confinement.

Lohan, who pleaded no contest to stealing a USD 2,500 necklace, had until June 17 to report to the prison but it is thought she wanted to do it sooner rather than later so she can begin shooting her new movie, "Gotti: three Generations".

Lindsay Lohan to sue jewellery store?

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly planning to sue the jewellery store that she allegedly stole a necklace from, after it released surveillance footage of the day in question.

TMZ reports that Kamofie & Company sold the distribution rights to the footage - showing Lohan looking at items in the shop - to the AP, which then arranged a deal with Entertainment Tonight to give exclusive rights to air the recording for seven days.

However, Lohan is said to be exploring her legal options, after claiming that the money made from the tape deal - rumoured to be around $40,000 (£24,750) - amounts to profiting from her image.

A representative for Kamofie & Company told the website: "We regret to hear there is trepidation by Miss Lohan in connection with the video.

"We hope that everyone understands that this is beyond our control; the flood of the requests to see this video were simply too overwhelming. It was truly necessary to put it out."

Lohan is currently facing felony grand theft charges over a necklace which the company claims the actress stole from the showroom. Lohan denies the accusation.

Lindsay denies theft allegations

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood singer and actress, Lindsay Lohan, has denied allegations of stealing a necklace, claiming that the jewelry store let her borrow the necklace, and her stylist simply failed to return it.

The 24-year old singer and actress could be facing years in prison if she is charged and convicted of stealing a $2,500 "one of a kind" necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store.

As of now, the decision has not yet been made to charge Lohan. "The case remains under review," Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said on Saturday. "When we make a decision, we will let everyone know."

According to police, "Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific area obtained a search warrant on February 1, 2011, for actress Lindsay Lohan's Venice residence, to search for the necklace."

In a statement directed at the media, Lohan's criminal defense attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told People, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."

LiLo-Paris Hilton to fight in a boxing match

Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have been offered $500,000 each by Hollywood Boxing Federation promoter to take part in a boxing match.

Federation promoter, Damon Feldman, has singled out Hilton and Lohan as his next two celeb boxing contenders.

Feldman has said he will donate the proceeds to anti-drug and alcohol campaigns and would give them the huge fees for them to give to charity if the reformed party girls - who both have convictions for driving under the influence - agree to step into the ring.

"We're calling it the battle of the bad girls of Hollywood," RadarOnline.com quoted Feldman as saying.

“They would use big pillow-sized boxing gloves. This would be nothing more than a fun match-up, and Paris and Lindsay have both dabbled with boxing training in the past.

"Michael could even help train Lindsay as he is undefeated in Celebrity Boxing!" Feldman added.

Feldman believes the light-hearted match would be the perfect way to strengthen their friendship further for the sake of a good cause.

He told: "This is a perfect way for the two ladies to give back.”

It's probably a man's dream come true!

Lohan moving to 'secret' home after rehab?

Lindsay Lohan will reportedly attempt to remain sober after her latest rehab stint by moving to a secret location.

The Mean Girls favourite, who is due to exit the Betty Ford centre next week, will allegedly leave her old West Hollywood home for a new residence, where she will live under the supervision of her mother Dina and her two teenage siblings.

A supposed friend of the actress told X17: "Lindsay will be staying at a secret location starting January 4, with her family, mother and siblings. She also has the support of me and her other friends.

"As long as she doesn't fail any tests - and everyone is going to make sure she doesn't - she'll be put on summary unsupervised probation on February 25."

Meanwhile, Lindsay's estranged father Michael Lohan backed the star's decision to ditch her "so-called friends and [old] haunts", but issued a plea to his ex-wife not to damage the troubled 24-year-old further by bringing her into their ongoing feud.

"Another important part of Lindsay's release, if she does spend time with Dina, is that Dina does not put Lindsay in between, or include her, in any of our differences. Lindsay needs two parents who will stand by her and become united rather than two parents who oppose each other."

He added: "To any extent, I'm proud of Lindsay, I'm happy for her and I want her to be happy, as well. Family is the most important thing in recovery."

Rehab Asks Lindsay Lohan to Stay in the Facility for Thanksgiving

Seems like Thanksgiving won’t be a happy holiday for Lindsay Lohan, what with the announcement of the rehab she is currently admitted in that she won’t get a free pass to spend time with her family. The almost-Inferno star was asked to stay in rehab instead of roasting and eating turkey with her family in Long Island.

According to a source close to the Lohans, Lindsay is not coming home but her mother, Dina, is still trying to work things out to bring her home. Unfortunately, there seems to be no success on the negotiations. Just a couple of weeks ago, the star was awarded some day passes by the Betty Ford-supervised home situated in Rancho Mirage she is staying on due to her good behavior.

She was able to visit her condo in West Hollywood and was even able to make a photo shoot for a new clothing line she will be advertising. To further prove that she is being a good girl, she has even made some efforts to make peace with her father, Michael Lohan, who was reported to have visited her in rehab for a few times already.

Sadly though, her good deeds were not enough to give her a free ticket to Thanksgiving. Looks like there’s no turkey for you this holiday Lindsay.
